How to Repair Timber Floors

Although timber flooring is very durable, minor scratches are a normal occurrence due to the daily wear and tear. However, it is easy to remedy this situation by using a laminate floor repair kit that you can purchase at most local home centers. The kits typically include wax crayons or pencils, latex or acrylic and are color coded that matches the timber floor. Take a plank from the floor and go with it to the home center for color matching.
Where the damage is more serious, you may need to replace the damaged board. Glueless laminate floors are easy to install as well as repair and as such you will require additional laminate flooring. To replace floating timber floor boards that are placed close to moldings or walls, follow the steps below:
1. Commence by removing the molding or baseboard. Do this carefully to avoid damaging the molding.
2. Start removing the boards from the molding to the point where you can access the damaged board.
3. Replace the board that is damaged and then reset the other boards in place.
4. Replace the molding.
If you are unsure on how to go about it, call in a professional installer to help you out.
